Frequently asked questions
Here are the answers to some common questions, but if you need to know more, please contact us. We will be happy to help.
Q: Are special diets catered for?
A: Century Healthcare recognises the importance of maintaining a healthy, balanced and nutritious diet to promote well being. The emphasis is on good home cooking. Alternatives to the menu of the day are always available and special diets, such as gluten free, etc. are catered for.
Q: Will I be able to bring my own furniture and will I have my own room?
A: At Century Healthcare we encourage residents to personalise their own rooms. This provides for a homely atmosphere, making the transition into residential care less stressful. Single rooms are available, and a small number of shared rooms for residents who require this facility.
Q: Who will look after me and have they had training?
A: Our dedicated staff are headed by a matron or a manager, who has many years experience in caring for the elderly. Our philosophy is to provide the highest standards of nursing care whilst maintaining a warm, friendly and dignified environment. Within all the nursing homes there are qualified nurses on duty 24 hours a day. On-going staff training, staff appraisal and supervision ensure that we provide the best possible care and attention to our residents.
Q: Will my religious beliefs be upheld?
A: Century Healthcare encourages all denominations of local clergy to visit our homes on a weekly basis, to ensure that the spiritual needs of our residents are met.
Q: Will I be able to keep my own GP?
A: All residents are actively encouraged to maintain their current GP. However if a resident is from outside the area, it would be necessary to register with a local GP of their choice. GP's make regular visits to the homes along with other professionals on request.

A: Century Healthcare employs an activities co-ordinator in all homes. They organise activities, outings and functions, such as, summer fairs, Christmas Parties and birthday celebrations.
