May 2020 Covid Update

Century Healthcare continues to support all its residents and staff throughout the pandemic. We have managed to remain stocked with PPE from our usual suppliers and now have started to receive stock from local authorities too. We have also received donations of PPE from individuals and local companies and are very grateful for this.

We have worked alongside Public Health England and Local Infection Control Teams to ensure our cleaning regimes meet current regulatory requirements.

Our staff have been tremendous throughout all the homes as they have continued to work on the front line under exceptional circumstances. Whilst staffing the homes has been a challenge due to some staff having to self- isolate and many other factors, many of our teams have stepped up to fill these shifts to ensure the smooth running of the home.

GP Practices continue to support all our homes fully and are providing regular and urgent medical care via telephone and secure video calling which allows the GP to see and interact with residents. There has been no disruption to the ordering and supply of any prescriptions.

Testing for residents and staff has now started by Public Health England with support from local authorities. All our other supply lines e.g. food, cleaning supplies and maintenance remain unaffected.

We appreciate fully that is a difficult time for both residents and their families and we are working hard to maintain a sense of normality for them where we can. To maintain social contact, we have supplied each home with an iPad and Facebook portal. Skype and facetime are available for non-Facebook users. We have also set up temporary Facebook groups for each home to maintain social contact only and are trying to keep these as up to date as possible where we have available staff and if the resident wants to have their photograph taken . For log on information please contact the home directly. We will not be giving any medical information out on these Facebook groups. We ask you contact the home for an individual update on your relative. We continue to provide our dedicated phone line for relatives who have any concerns, and this is staffed by a member of the senior management team. The number is 01253 845455

This a very fluid situation and advice, legislation and support all change, sometimes on a daily basis so your continued support in these very difficult times is greatly appreciated.
