Job Title: Wellbeing Coordinator (Full Time)
Location: Mary Rose Manor
Hours: 40 hours per week (including weekends on a rota basis)
Contract: Permanent, Full Time Salary: £12.21 per hour
Reporting to: Registered Manager / Deputy Manager
Job Purpose
The Wellbeing Coordinator is responsible for planning, organising and delivering a meaningful programme of activities and wellbeing opportunities for residents at Mary Rose Manor. The role focuses on improving quality of life, promoting independence, encouraging social interaction, and supporting residents’ emotional, physical and mental wellbeing.
This role requires experience supporting adults living with dementia, including those who may display behaviours that challenge, and the ability to create person-centred activities tailored to individual needs and preferences.
Key Responsibilities
Wellbeing & Activities
Plan and deliver a varied programme of group and one-to-one activities to meet residents’ needs, interests, and abilities.
Promote resident involvement and encourage participation in daily wellbeing activities.
Provide dementia-friendly activities that support cognitive stimulation, reminiscence, sensory engagement, and emotional wellbeing.
Support residents to maintain independence, dignity and choice at all times.
Person-Centred Support
Build positive relationships with residents and develop an understanding of their life history, interests and preferences.
Adapt activities for residents living with dementia, including those with communication difficulties.
Respond appropriately and calmly to behaviours that challenge, using a compassionate and person-centred approach.
Organisation & Planning
Maintain a structured activities calendar and ensure activities are planned in advance.
Organise resources, materials and equipment required for activities.
Ensure activities are inclusive, accessible, and appropriate for all residents.
Support themed events, celebrations, community engagement, and seasonal programmes.
Communication & Teamwork
Work closely with care staff to ensure activities complement residents’ care needs and routines.
Communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors and the wider team.
Encourage family involvement and support positive engagement with relatives.
Documentation & Standards
Maintain accurate records of activities delivered and resident participation.
Support the home to meet CQC expectations around wellbeing, meaningful occupation, and person-centred care.
Ensure activities are delivered in line with the home’s policies, safeguarding standards, and health & safety requirements.
Essential Requirements
Experience working with adults living with dementia, including those who may display behaviours that challenge.
Previous experience in a wellbeing, activities, lifestyle or engagement role (preferably within a care home setting).
Strong organisational skills and ability to plan and manage time effectively.
A warm, engaging personality with the ability to motivate and encourage residents.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
Willingness to work weekends as part of a rota.
Desirable Requirements
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care, Activities Coordination, or equivalent.
Training in dementia care and/or managing behaviours that challenge.
Experience of community engagement and arranging external entertainers or trips.
Creative skills such as arts/crafts, music, gentle exercise, reminiscence, or sensory activities.
