Letter from our Chairman

This is a very difficult letter for me to write to you at these uncertain times. This global pandemic is the like of which we have never seen in our lifetimes. As you know our home continues to remain closed to visitors. This was a difficult decision for us to take but essential in order that we fulfil our promise to keep all our residents as safe as possible.

This challenging place we all find ourselves in has resulted in some very difficult decisions being made about many scenarios one of which is visiting a relative whose condition may deteriorate, and it is believed they are dying. With regret we are unable even in these circumstances to permit you to visit.

We understand this may cause you some considerable distress, but we have a duty of care to take every measure we can to maintain resident and staff safety and that of their extended families too.

This is not a decision we have taken lightly. We have given the home extra equipment so that in the event this situation does arise you will be able to video call your relative if you wish to do so. Let me also reassure you that any resident coming to the end of their lives will be comforted by a staff member known to them. We will be honest and transparent with you and inform you if there is any deterioration in their condition.

In all my decades of nursing I have never had to make a decision of this magnitude and your support at this very difficult time is greatly appreciated.

If you wish to discuss this further, we have a dedicated phone line 01253 845455. I would be grateful if you can share this letter with all members of your family.

Your sincerely
