At Ambleside Bank Care Home, we believe that every day should be filled with meaning, joy, and personal connection. That’s why we are so proud of our Me to You Days – special moments created just for our residents, based entirely on what matters most to them.

What Are “Me to You” Days?

Our Me to You Days are all about person-centred care. Our Activity Coordinator spends time with each resident – often with the help of their family – to discover something truly special they would love to do. Whether it’s fulfilling a lifelong dream, revisiting a cherished memory, or simply doing something that brings comfort, we make it happen.

Making Meaningful Moments Happen

Recently, one of our residents shared that he wished to visit his late wife’s grave to lay flowers, something he hadn’t been able to do for quite some time. With gentle support from our Activity Coordinator, we arranged the visit. It was a deeply moving and meaningful experience – a simple act that brought peace and connection.

Another wonderful Me to You Day involved Barbara, who had one very special wish for her 90th birthday – to ride a Harley Davidson! With the help of her son, we made her dream come true. The joy on her face said it all, and Barbara was even featured in the local newspaper! She told us she “felt 21 again” – and we couldn’t have been happier for her.

Inspiring Friendship and Connection

Barbara’s story didn’t end there. After reading about her Harley Davidson adventure, another lady wrote to her, saying how inspired and uplifted she felt. The writer shared that she sometimes felt lonely, but Barbara’s courage gave her hope.

With staff support, Barbara replied – and soon the two began exchanging heartfelt letters and cards. Eventually, we invited Barbara’s new friend to come and have lunch with us at Ambleside Bank. The two finally met in person, and it was a joyful afternoon filled with laughter and friendship.

They still keep in touch through letters and phone calls, and we’ve even invited Barbara’s pen pal to join us over the Christmas period.
