Job Title: Domestic Supervisor

Location: Gillibrand Hall

Company: Century Healthcare Ltd

Hours: 42 hours per week

Shift Pattern:

  • 4 days one week / 5 days the following week

  • Shifts are 6:00am – 4:00pm

  • Worked over 7 days per week, including weekend working

Rate of Pay: £12.43 per hour


Century Healthcare Ltd is looking to appoint a dedicated and organised Domestic Supervisor to join the team at Gillibrand Hall. This is a key supervisory role responsible for overseeing domestic and laundry services, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, efficiency, and resident-focused care are maintained at all times.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily activities of Domestic Assistants and Laundry Assistants to ensure high standards of cleaning and laundry services

  • Provide an efficient and effective laundry service that meets the needs of residents and the standards expected within Century Healthcare Ltd homes

  • Act as the main point of contact for suppliers of cleaning and laundry materials

  • Order cleaning and laundry supplies on a monthly basis and maintain adequate stock levels

  • Manage stock control and oversee the organisation and security of the stock room

  • Ensure all areas of the home are cleaned to a high standard in line with cleaning schedules and guidelines

  • Maintain confidentiality of residents’ and staff information, respecting privacy, dignity, and choice at all times

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and policies, including Health & Safety, COSHH, Fire Safety, and the Care Standards Act

  • Ensure equipment is used safely and is in good working order, reporting faults promptly via the maintenance reporting process

  • Ensure housekeeping supplies are available throughout the home and report shortages to the Registered Manager (Matron / Manager)

  • Use initiative to respond promptly to spillages and cleanliness issues

  • Work positively as part of the wider team, contributing to meetings and attending training as required

  • Maintain mandatory training and participate in supervision, appraisal, and ongoing development

  • Support safeguarding responsibilities and help ensure residents are protected from abuse

  • Undertake any other reasonable operational duties as directed by the line manager


Duties may be prioritised and adjusted in consultation with the post holder to meet the operational needs of the home.


Person Specification

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Friendly, helpful, and courteous approach

  • COSHH training (or willingness to undertake training)

  • Ability to use and maintain essential cleaning equipment

  • Ability to organise, supervise, and complete routine tasks to agreed standards
