At New Thursby Nursing Home, we are looking for 2 enthusiastic and caring Healthcare Assistants to join our friendly care team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about providing high-quality, person-centred care and wants to make a genuine difference to the lives of our residents.

The role is 22–28 hours per week, with shifts arranged as either 6-hour or 12-hour shifts, depending on the needs of the home and staffing requirements. This provides some flexibility around shift patterns while ensuring we continue to provide excellent care to our residents.

About the Role

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will work as an integral part of our caring team, providing personalised care and support to residents while promoting their privacy, dignity, independence, choice and wellbeing.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing high-quality personal care and support in line with individual care plans.

• Developing warm, respectful and supportive relationships with residents.

• Monitoring residents' physical and emotional wellbeing and reporting any changes promptly to senior staff.

• Supporting residents with their daily routines and encouraging independence wherever possible.

• Acting as a key worker for a group of residents and ensuring their individual needs are met.

• Supporting residents to participate in activities, social events and leisure opportunities.

• Escorting residents to appointments and outings where required.

• Assisting with meals and drinks, including providing additional support to residents who require assistance.

• Making and changing beds, keeping residents' rooms tidy and undertaking light cleaning duties as required.

• Maintaining accurate and confidential records.

• Following safeguarding, health and safety, COSHH and other relevant policies and procedures.

• Working positively as part of the wider care team and supporting new colleagues.

• Keeping mandatory training up to date and participating in supervision, training and appraisal.

Experience or an interest in palliative care would be beneficial, although this is not essential.

You will also be supported to develop your skills through training in social care of older people, with the expectation of completing a relevant diploma within 12 months of starting the role.

Previous care experience or relevant qualifications would be advantageous, but a caring attitude, reliability and a willingness to learn are equally important to us.
