At Gillibrand Hall, kindness is at the heart of everything we do — and our latest community outing truly embodied that spirit. This week, Tracey, our wonderful Activity Coordinator, took residents Terri and Barrie into Chorley town centre for a special mission: to spread happiness through simple random acts of kindness.

A Morning Filled With Smiles, Flowers and Community Spirit

The day began with a visit to the much-loved Marshalls Florist in Chorley. Their team kindly offered us a fantastic deal on 10 beautiful bunches of flowers, helping us bring a little sunshine to people’s day. While the bouquets were being prepared, we popped into the cosy local café, Annie Massa, and enjoyed delicious hot chocolate, lattes and a selection of cakes. It was the perfect start to a meaningful morning.

Making Chorley Smile — One Bouquet at a Time

Armed with our freshly made bouquets and little notes explaining who we are and what we were doing, we set off around the town centre.

Our goal was simple: to make people smile.

The reactions were heart-warming. Many were surprised, some a little emotional, and a few even shed tears of happiness. Each bouquet, handed over with a kind word, brightened someone’s day — and Terri and Barrie were thrilled to see just how much joy a small gesture can bring.

A Rewarding Experience for All

By the end of the morning, we had handed out all 10 bunches of flowers, each one delivered with care, compassion and a friendly chat. The sense of fulfilment was incredible — knowing we had made a difference to ten people’s day through genuine kindness.

At Gillibrand Hall, we believe that community connection is essential, and we’re proud to encourage activities that bring people together and spread positivity throughout Chorley.
