🌺 A Taste of the Tropics at New Thursby Nursing Home: End-of-Summer Hawaiian Celebration 🌺

At New Thursby Nursing Home, we love creating meaningful, memorable moments for our residents and their loved ones. This September, we waved goodbye to summer in true island style with a vibrant Hawaiian-themed party that brought sunshine, smiles, and plenty of tropical spirit into our home — even if the British weather didn’t quite match our theme!

🌴 Bringing the Tropics to New Thursby

Our lounge was transformed into a colourful, tropical paradise. Tables were dressed with fun grass-skirt skirts, bright Hawaiian flower lei garlands, and eye-catching summer décor. Residents, relatives, and team members embraced the theme with floral shirts, leis, and flower clips — adding to the festive atmosphere.

To set the mood, we enjoyed live music from a fantastic singer, filling the room with classic hits and uplifting tunes. There was singing, dancing, toe-tapping and plenty of smiles as residents and guests enjoyed the entertainment.

🍹 Tropical Treats & Refreshments

No Hawaiian celebration is complete without delicious refreshments! Our kitchen team prepared a delightful buffet spread, filled with tasty treats for everyone to enjoy. Guests were also treated to fruit cocktails and mocktails, adding a fun and refreshing tropical twist to the afternoon.

🎟️ Fun & Fundraising

Alongside the entertainment, we hosted a tombola and a cheerful game of hook-a-duck, which sparked lots of friendly competition and laughs. We are thrilled to share that the event raised £120 for our Residents’ Fund — money that will go towards future activities, special outings, and treats to continue enhancing the wellbeing and enjoyment of those in our care.

It was a joyful afternoon filled with community, laughter, and celebration. We’re so grateful to residents, families, and staff for making the day so special. Events like this are a cherished part of life at New Thursby Nursing Home — bringing people together and creating moments that mean so much to our residents.
