35 hours per week | 5 days per week | 08:30am – 4:00pm

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate, creative and experienced Activities Lead to join the team at Euxton Park Nursing Home.

The Activities Lead will take responsibility for leading and coordinating the activities department, ensuring that residents have access to a varied, engaging and meaningful programme of activities that reflects their individual interests, abilities, needs and choices.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has experience in activities, wellbeing, care or a similar environment and who is ready to take the lead in developing and delivering an outstanding activities programme.

You will work closely with the Home's management and care teams to ensure activities are an integral part of residents' lives, while supporting colleagues to create a positive, stimulating and inclusive environment throughout the Home.

This is a permanent, full-time position working 35 hours per week across 5 days, from 08:30am to 4:00pm.

Key Responsibilities

As Activities Lead, you will:

• Lead and coordinate the activities department within the Home.

• Develop, organise and oversee a varied programme of meaningful activities.

• Ensure activities are tailored to residents' individual interests, preferences, abilities and care needs.

• Work with residents to identify new interests, hobbies and activities they would like to participate in.

• Encourage residents to participate in activities while respecting individual choice and independence.

• Coordinate daily, weekly and seasonal activities and ensure the programme is well planned and communicated.

• Organise and support special events, celebrations, parties and residents' birthdays.

• Maintain a record of significant birthdays, including 100th birthdays.

• Arrange and support community visits, outings and minibus trips.

• Develop positive relationships with local community groups, churches, schools, entertainers and voluntary organisations.

• Coordinate religious services and support residents who wish to access religious or spiritual activities.

• Encourage care staff and other colleagues to actively participate in activities and events.

• Provide guidance and support to colleagues involved in delivering activities.

• Assist with fundraising events, including summer fairs, Christmas events, Easter activities and garden parties.

• Attend and contribute to residents' meetings and use feedback to develop the activities programme.

• Maintain activity boards, posters, photographs and displays throughout the Home.

• Ensure residents' activities and achievements are appropriately recorded and celebrated.

• Maintain accurate activity records, care plan updates, statistics and other relevant documentation.

• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the activities programme.

• Manage the activities budget responsibly and ensure resources are used effectively.

• Identify opportunities to improve and develop the activities provision.

• Promote residents' wellbeing, social engagement and community involvement.

• Work closely with the care team to ensure activities support residents' individual care and wellbeing plans.

• Support the Home in maintaining high standards of person-centred care and resident engagement.

• Ensure residents are safeguarded from abuse and neglect at all times.

• Maintain confidentiality in relation to residents, relatives and colleagues.

• Attend training, supervision and appraisal as required.

• Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by your line manager.

About You

• Confident in taking the lead and coordinating an activities programme.

• Organised and able to manage competing priorities.

• Caring, patient and supportive.

• Friendly and approachable, with the ability to build strong relationships.

• A confident communicator with good literacy and numeracy skills.

• A strong team player who can motivate and encourage colleagues.

• Able to work independently and use their own initiative.

• Comfortable working with residents with a range of abilities, interests and needs.

• Able to develop positive relationships with residents, relatives, colleagues and members of the wider community.

• Reliable, punctual and professional.

• Passionate about person-centred care and ensuring residents have meaningful experiences every day.

• Ideally experienced in a supervisory, leadership or coordinating capacity.
